Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training
CERT training provides participants with the skills and information to take care of themselves, their families, and their neighbors following a disaster, until first responders can arrive.
The 20-hour program covers disaster preparedness, fire safety, basic disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, terrorism, and team operations.
Initially developed by the Los Angeles Fire Department to provide the citizens with basic survival and search/rescue training in the event of a major earthquake, the training program has been adapted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as an all-hazards program.
